Over 50% of Carousellers are e-wallet users, Grabpay, Touch 'n Go and Boost lead the pack.
Carousell, one of the world's largest and fastest growing classifieds marketplaces conducted a voluntary response in-app survey on e-wallets with its Malaysian users recently and found that there is a group that keeps more than RM250 in their e-wallets proving there is a sizeable segment of frequent e-wallet users.
"We present an analysis of our Malaysian users' fascinating perception and usage habits of E-Wallets from how many are using them to the amount of float they keep on them, we look at Boost, Touch 'n Go, GrabPay and more, with interesting results," said Tang Siew Wai, Country Head of Carousell Malaysia.
In our e-wallet survey on Feb 2018, we only had 202 respondents but for this round (Oct 2018), we have more than tripled the amount of respondents to 731. This clearly shows increased interests from Carousell users on the usage of e-wallets in Malaysia..
Only 24.3% respondents (in our Feb 2018 survey) mentioned they are using e-wallet, and this percentage has increased to 52.9%, which indicated that the usage of e-wallet(s) among Carousell users in Malaysia have increased significantly.
Most Carousellers (71.7%) keep less than RM100 in their e-wallets.
It's also interesting to note that there is a group that keeps more than RM250 (at 8.9%). This means that there is a sizeable segment of frequent e-wallet users.

Regarding the type of e-wallets that Carousell users are currently using, the top #5 e-wallets comprises 87.7% of all the e-wallets market share.
